Returns policyNintendo 64 non-OEM reproduction Stunt Racer video game cartridge.
Stunt Racer 64 is a futuristic, arcade-style racing game released for the Nintendo 64 in October 2000. Developed by Boss Game Studios and published by Midway, it features a unique blend of 1950s retro car aesthetics retrofitted with futuristic jet technology, allowing players to perform complex midair acrobatics. Because it was released exclusively as a rental title through the now-defunct Blockbuster Video chain in North America, it had a highly restricted print run and has become one of the rarest and most expensive cartridges for N64 collectors today.
Gameplay & Mechanics
- High-Flying Stunts: Vehicles are equipped with turbo technology and mounted jets. Players use the analog stick to execute midair flips, barrel rolls, and spins off massive jumps to accumulate cash rewards.
- Progression and Upgrades: Players can choose from multiple starter cars and earn prize money by winning races and pulling off stunts. This cash is used to buy new vehicles or upgrade engine parts, handling, weight, and chassis stiffness.
- Control Style: The driving mechanics emphasize a heavy, momentum-based "constant drift" style that presents a steep learning curve but offers rewarding mastery once understood.
- Game Modes
- Contest Mode: The main single-player career track where players choose a character and compete across five distinct racing leagues (ranging from Kid Cola's League to Dr. Death's League). Winning a league requires defeating the league owner in a grueling one-on-one boss race, which unlocks that boss's custom car. Progress requires an external N64 Controller Pak (Memory Card) to save.
- Quick Race: An arcade mode supporting up to four players in split-screen multiplayer. It features standard single races, practice modes, and access to two exclusive stunt-only arenas: the Half Pipe and the Stunt Bowl.
Tracks & Visual Design
The game features 11 to 12 stylized, gravity-defying roller-coaster-style tracks suspended in the air. The courses are known for their imaginative, non-realistic themes filled with loops, moving obstacles, secret paths, and cash rings. Notable tracks include Giant Toys, Medieval Mayhem, Tacky Tiki, and House of Horrors.
