Star Soldier Vanishing Earth — Nintendo 64 (Reproduction)

Nintendo 64 non-OEM reproduction Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth video game cartridge.

Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth is a 1998 vertical-scrolling shoot 'em up (shmup) developed by Hudson Soft for the Nintendo 64. It is a main-line entry in Hudson's celebrated Star Soldier franchise, known for pioneering competitive "Caravan" score-attack gaming in Japan.

Game Overview & Setting

The game transitions the classic top-down series into the 64-bit era by utilizing 3D polygon graphics while strictly maintaining traditional 2D vertical gameplay. Set in a futuristic sci-fi universe, players pilot an advanced starfighter to battle through hordes of alien forces, heavily armed space armadas, and massive screen-filling bosses across multiple planetary and deep-space zones.

Key Features

• The Barrel Roll: The signature mechanic of the game. Tapping the R-button triggers a barrel roll that grants temporary invincibility frames and allows you to reflect enemy projectiles back at them.
• Varying Starfighters: Players select from three distinct ships (Red, Blue, and Green), each featuring unique speed stats, sub-weapon loadouts, and weapon spread patterns to fit different playstyles.
• Branching Paths: Depending on how efficiently you destroy certain environmental targets or bosses, the game features hidden route splits and alternate stages.
• Arcade Caravan Modes: In addition to the main Story Mode, it includes dedicated 2-minute and 5-minute timed modes where the sole objective is to maximize your score under a strict time limit.
